1 Sick Husband + 1 Tiny Baby = Missing Christmas Eve Service

by - Wednesday, December 24, 2014

We were going to go to church at 4, but the Boy has been feeling worse and worse, so he went to bed. While he naps, BBG and I are singing hymns and feeling sad we will miss Louis Ann sing in Franklin (on the bright side, I won't have to get leaky in front of strangers when someone sings "Oh, Holy Night- I always get weepiest in church when I am homesick). I don't think I ever noticed the third verse of "Joy to the World" but I love it:

Joy to the World , the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.

I love that- isn't just the definition of grace that even when things are horrible (even awful by our own making) that there are always blessings to be grateful for? Thanks Isaac Watts! Also, this song is getting close to its 300th birthday- how cool!

I hope you are all enjoying Christmas Eve with your families; BBG and I are up to skyping anytime in the next 48 hours if you have time!
