Awesome and Original Halloween Costumes for Girls

by - Saturday, September 28, 2013

For the past few years, my sister-in-law has very generously let The Boy and I be involved in buying the kids costumes for Halloween. I am so grateful, because I love this sort of thing. We first got involved when we found Aubrey a ridiculously awesome Yoda costume. Last year, Petey wanted to go as Mario, and we picked Aubrey's costume (because she was still too little to pick). We got her a Batman costume and a tutu to match. She looked awesome, though she was not feeling the hat.

This year, both kids picked what they wanted to be (you'll see! they are pretty awesome), but before they told me, I was poking around and found lots of cool ideas, so I thought I would share. I wasn't sure if Aubrey would have an opinion (boy did she!) so most of the ideas were for her, but I think lots of them would work for boys too.

I loved the idea of Aubrey being the ringleader or the strong man, because she is such a badass, but I also noticed when I was poking around that tutus and clowns really do look cute together. She could have rocked that look too.

I love seeing the crazy movie costumes people come up with. Next year, I might campaign for Cruella Deville, because that is just so cute.

Aubrey will be exactly none of these things this year, because if you want something really original, you put the three year old in charge. It will be awesome. But I thought maybe these would still be fun to show, in case someone else was still brainstorming ideas.
