First Anniversary Preparation

by - Friday, August 16, 2013

Since I am going to go home on Monday, I have to finish the majority of my anniversary preparations this weekend. All of the presents are bought and wrapped, so I am glad that is out of the way but I am fretting that the gifts aren't cool enough. I got him a few books, an anniversary book (ok, I am barely counting that as for him since it is clearly for me), a cool map, and a clock made out of recycled magazines. Lots of paperiness, right? I don't know if it is going to be a hit or not, but at least I tried.

I am in the middle of negotiating a substitute top tier since we definitely ate ours the day after the wedding. I need to call them tomorrow, because I think the cake is the most important aspect of any celebration ever. Beyond that, I don't know what we are doing for food. The Boy says he wants to figure it out, and this is me, not undermining him.

Ok, so for the decorations, I am partially just going to recreate the dance floor, since it was mostly paper anyway:
So I am going to make the tissue puffs while I am home, and I ordered just a couple paper lanterns. But clearly that is not enough, right? I mean, what the hell am I going to do for cotton? I better turn it out now. So here are a few of the things I am planning:

I am making some streamers like this I think. I feel like they would have a good wow factor type of business anyway. I might do a ton of them over our dining room table. I feel like that would be a pretty romantic look.

I love these picture numbers, but I think maybe we haven't put in the hard time to deserve them yet? So, instead I am thinking I will make big numbers and just decorate them with stuff. The downside of this is that I have to take the Star Wars stuff down from his birthday, but if it doesn't come down now, it will be Halloween, so we may as well go for it (though to be completely honest I keep debating whether just having a bride and groom riding on the millenium falcon might not be a better celebration- happy for votes on that!).

So these are my big ideas right now. Hopefully it will be good and will kick off lots of fun anniversaries to come. We are skipping our annual trip to the Madonna Inn, so we need some great traditions to replace it (trying to swallow my sadness on that one). What do other people do for their anniversaries? Do you have any cool traditions?
