3 Things- Helping, Pork and Asparagus, and Kitchen Nightmares "Amy's Baking Company"

1. The American Instinct to Help- The numbers and news out of Oklahoma have been incredibly sad and difficult to hear/read. The silver lining has been that yesterday there was a huge wave of efforts to help them. Just on facebook, I could see how friends in Oklahoma were helping, but also how churches and other groups were organizing all over the country. That is awesome.

I personally love that Americans do not mind their own business. As a country-wide identity, when one of our neighbors is in trouble, people help. I love that. I love that for every piece of horrible news, there is someone trying to figure out what they can do. It may be my #1 favorite thing about the country.

2. Pork and Asparagus Stir Fry- It was the first meal we ever made in this apartment, and it is still one of my very favorite. It's also nice, because I get to work as the sous chef pretty much the whole time. It's a simple recipe, but it is delicious and healthy too.

3. Kitchen Nightmares "Amy's Baking Company"- Ok, I know I am late to the game here, but this thing really was sad and tragic and completely bizarre. I love this show in general, as it is the kind of stuff on when I am trying to go to sleep, but I never really watch as it is airing on Fox. This episode really didn't need Gordon Ramsey for anything. They just set up cameas and watched what seems to be their routine way of self-destructing. By the end I really felt bad for her, and I wonder how someone becomes so defensive, but you have to admit that it was very entertaining, if nothing else, and the onslaught of bad attention they got themselves after the fact really can't be blamed on the show.
