3 Things- American Idol Lameness, The African Queen, and Amsterdam!

1. Just how much the American Idol judges were hearing something really different tonight- Has one of their sponsors threatened to take money away if a girl with a curvy non-waifish body wins? Why do we keep praising the less good singers? Amber was off her entire duet with Kree, yet she got so much praise as if she had nailed it. Also, what the hell was that Rhianna cover? I do like the song for its quiet vulnerability- when I hear it on the radio, it genuinely makes me sad. This one made me sad in a different way- they were trying so hard, and I am so sick of the runs I could scream.

Also, Amber was awful on Macarthur Park, and they acted like it was the hugest moment on the show. In general, the judge's commentary felt incredibly manipulative. I don't know if they are trying to make it more suspenseful? Or they want one of these "marketable" girls? I really liked this season, and I didn't mind the all girls thing, but now this just feels like too much. Too manipulative, too contrived, too much about looks instead of talent (because we really don't know anything about any of these girls, and I don't need to keep hearing about their lipstick choices, curves, and "inner glow").

2. The African Queen- That movie is the bomb (literally, I can pause for a moment if you need to finish your chuckles). It is on Netflix. It is so easy to see, so everyone watch it tomorrow! You won't regret it. It has a slow start, but it is a very romantic adventure movie or vice versa. it is also my Mom's favorite movie of all time, so it has the J Cro seal of approval.

3. That six years ago today, I was in Amsterdam, and one week and two days from now, I will be back. So excited. We just have to decide what we are going to do with our 8 hours of Dutch madness!
