1. Hope and actually getting a move on-Went for my first interview for a volunteer job today (teaching kids in East Palo Alto in this case). It went really well, though when you are offering labor for free, people are generally pretty willing to settle for whatever you can offer. Still, I am excited to be creating a new schedule, where I can focus on what I am doing rather than obsessing about trying to figure out everything in my future.

2.Gabriele Galimberti's series Toy Stories- In this photo series, the photographer asked his sitters to pose with their most prized possessions. It seems like a simple enough concept, but the result, covering many countries and cultures is both incredibly sweet and thought-provoking. It makes you think about the ways a culture is fed and represented through children's play. It makes you think about want and plenty. It makes you think about gender. At the same time, it shows that at that young age, kids pretty universally just want to play. One of the photographs on a chair reminds me of the highly controversial Robert Mapplethorpe portraits of children. These portraits are formal, often straight on, but cannot contain the personality and humor of the kids, which is what makes for such an interesting contrast. You can see the whole series here.
3. Grilled pineapple- it's one of those things that you actually forget how amazing it is, and then you have it again, and it is freaking amazing.
