3 Things- Persepolis, The Princess Bride, and Northern California Weather

1. Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi- Everyone should read this book about the changing political climate in Iran framed by the dramas of a girl coming of age. It is about how what we think and believe shapes us and can eventually alienate us from the places we thought of as home. It is also about the dangers of fundamentalism and a complex population and history. Plus, it just reminds you  of how recent the recent conflicts in Iran really were. Plus, it is a graphic novel, so you know you can handle it. I highly recommend this book.
2. The Princess Bride and Manhattan- Don't you love when great movies are on tv? I only watched the last 40 minutes of Manhattan while the Boy fell asleep, but it really is one of the most beautiful films ever. The Princess Bride is just a cozy movie, just familiar and fun and not too serious. Plus, it has a great little score (which I can still hear downstairs while I blog away up here) and I love Andre the Giant.
3. California weather- Ok, there are a lot of things I do not love about California, first of which would be the horrible self-centered drivers, but I do find it charming that we can drive to Moveable Feast at 6:30 with the air conditioning on, and by the time we are rush back to our car, we are freezing and want to turn the heat way up. The sun is important if you want things to be hot.

Also forever and ever, I will love my bao coca-cola braised pork sandwich. It is a highlight of every single week.
