We don't do much for Valentine's decorations (we do have a red wire Country Living Chicken on our dining room table). I was trying to think if there were little things I could make myself for the apartment. Basically, things out of stuff I could make out of things already in our home.

Basically, Pinterest recommends making hearts out of any material/ food/ space dust that you can find. I do like the paint chip hearts one.

Also, banners! Because nothing says love like a banner. Especially one made of fringe. I think that is in a poem somewhere.

There are also a lot of suggestions for writing encouragement on hearts and putting them in any number of arrangements. I like this, but it is a little repetitive from the post-it countdown calender of 2012. I probably won't go this route, but I recommend it. Especially the hangy one, because I just love hangy stuff, and this would be an awesome way to wake up on V-day.

I know Valentine's Day is a bunch of hokum, but I don't mind a day that reminds you to be loving toward people. And I truly think the key to happy living is making a big enough deal out of the good stuff that things still balance out when all the crappy stuff happens too. In this spirit, I think I might take my first whack at Galentine's Day this year. Thank you, Leslie Knope!
