3 Things- R L Stine, One Billion Rising, and Weird Awesomeness

1. That the end of Wheel of Fortune always makes me think of RL Stine-Yes, this addiction is seriously out of control. Oh, Pat Sajack. Does anyone know what happened to RL Stine or Goosebumps? Did he turn into Pat Sajack?
2.  One Billion Rising Day- When I was in college, Valentine's Day was also known as V-Day, and they put on the vagina monologues and raised money for violence against women. This day has grown to bring attention to violence against women (according to their website, 1 in 3 women is raped, sexually assaulted, or beaten in their life time. That is an insane statistic, but if you take a second to reflect, it may not be far off). All sorts of events are hosted all over the country, most of which are extremely positive in their tenor. If you are feeling a bit of an itch to do something for the world, this is a great place to start. In my area they have a flash mob, a zumba class, and a YWCA creativity day (I thnk I might check that out) to bring attention to this problem. If you think you may have some time on Valentine's Day, or that it might just be nice to meet some new women and bring attention to a problem I guarantee has effected at the very least one person you love, check out the website and put your zip code in. http://onebillionrising.org/ You can also watch a video with Jane Fonda, so you know this stuff is legit.

If you live in Franklin or the area, try Slippery Rock's One Billion Rising dance event (there is a running theme of dance through the whole thing). In Murfreesboro Tennessee they are having an all day Zumba bash. Truly, the possibilities are endless, and even if you can't participate, I thought maybe it would brighten your day to know that something like this exists. And maybe you can mention these scary statistics so we can change attitudes and awareness. It can't stay the way it is.

3. This just made me smile- Everyone awesome really is at least a little bit weird.
