3 Things for Yesterday- College support, Confirmation class, and Leslie Knope

1. My WISSH group- Thank goodness for the hour and half a week where I can talk to other grads about what is up with their school stuff. It is a Godsend to realize that there are other people going through the same thing as I am. They should have these for all career tracks. It is one of the most encouraging things I have done in all of grad school.
2. We are getting confirmed! I saw our priest yesterday and they are finally going to have confirmation class, so we can join our church officially. I am pretty pumped about that.
3. Leslie Knope and April Ludgate- how many other shows have ever treated feminism with respect and warmth all at once? Glad they figured out how to get rid of the fridge and stick it to the garbage men.
4. And related- that women can now serve in combat if that is what they want to do. I will be honest, this is one of those things that I would never want to do, but I am elated that women in the military are being given the choices that they want.

Not so great- Annie Liebowitz's Disney portraits- has anyone else seen these things? Look them up. They are genuinely horrible. The worst part about them is how visible they make Disney's mistreatment of race. Also, some of the ones that shouldn't have needed too much photoshop have a very artificial and contrived relationship between the bodies. I, in general, have no problem with her as a photographer just because she works for Vogue, and I think some of her photographs are great, but this stuff is mind blowing in its stupidness.
