6 Things- Spinach, Kate and Melanie as Pauline and Juliet, New Stockings, and the Crystal Quilt

1. Spinach Salads- We had one at Aunt Ann's for Thanksgiving, and man, it was good! Popeye had some stuff figured out, because spinach is actually pretty awesome. And it is good for you! But for serious, when granola makes this list, someone needs to come and physically remove me from California.

2. Kate Winslet and Melanie Lynskey- Heavenly Creatures, as a true crime film, is really a mixed bag, but these two performances got all the hype for a reason. It amazing to see just how good Kate Winslet was from the get (it doesn't seem like it should be that way, yet there it is), and their relationship is so intense, ambiguous, and honest that it weirdly takes over and overshadows the crime it is supposed to be explaining. Good on Fran Walsh for finding these two, because they were great then and they continue to be pretty badass now (2 and a half men excluded).
3. Making Sugar Cookies- So fun! Right up until it gets super boring and you just want to wrap it up. That is how those final angels and Santa Clauses are just piles of whatever frosting is left. Note to self for next year- half batch! We are only two people, and our attention span is too low.

4. Our New Stockings- these are from the Allenbrite store on Etsy. We were looking for not too expensive stockings, and the ones at Michael's were about 17 bucks. These were made in the USA with US made materials, and they were 25 bucks each. And they are ridiculously cute. They came in the mail this week, and I am pretty excited about them. Now we at least have stockings here for decoration.
5. Entertainment Weekly end of year lists- they come up with way better ones than me. But they also get paid and probably get 10000x more followers than me, so that is just manpower well-spent. Still, you have to respect the person judging worst lines, best CGI, and the like. I enjoy them, but I just like lists in general.
6. Suzanne Lacy's The Crystal Quilt- Should have gone to the Tate to see the Reperformance this year. Currently finding cool stuff about feminist art and aging women left and right. This one is pretty great.
