5 Things I Love This Week

1. Walking to 7-11 to get a snack- The Boy and I have been keeping snacks out of the house, in an effort to svelte up, but every so often, you just need something delicious and horrible for you. Also, we haven't had use of our car for a good chunk of the week, because it has been crapping out. So the other night, we walked to 7-11 and got snacks- I got a blue blow pop, and I felt like a 14 year old, in the back of a truck, heading to Tionesta to go camping again. Something about walking for snacks as a form of entertainment makes me feel like a kid, so it was such a nice break from my dissertation proposal. Not the big plans we had for the weekend, but it still worked out for a nice moment.

2. Simone Forti- A dancer who worked in the 50's and 60's. She's just fantastic. When Robert Whitman came to Stanford this spring he gave me a DVD of her work to watch, and it is so good. Forti deserves more attention than she has gotten thus far.

3. This. It's just cute. So there.
4. Definitely not Michigan-Man, who wants to be a woman in Michigan? I mean, being a woman anywhere in the US lately has been a drag, but what the hell, Michigan? You can't say vagina, you can only try to discriminate against them? And today, Jezebel reported that they are coming after homosexuals as well (basically by suggesting counselors should not help anyone who is doing anything against their religious beliefs. Does that count sinning in general? And can I bring up for the millionth time that Jesus spent a bunch of time with the people society saw as lowest on the morality totem pole, so this whole philosophy being based in my religion is totally disgusting to me, not to even mention the exceptionally faulty logic that this is any of the government's business). This action has to be a testament to the fact that both feminism and gay rights are still so vitally necessary and are inextricably linked. Boo hiss, you nasty people.

5. My Dad, Grampa, and Poppop- Happy father's day to all the dads out there, but these three are the best ever.
