5 Things I Love this Week

1. Carrie Lambert-Beatty's Being Watched- It's my current read for my ACE, and I love her writing style. I'm into it, which is good, because I still have like 100 pages to go.
2. St Mark's in the Erie Papers featuring the fantastic Melissa Adzima, who is one of the youngest priests in America. I find it exciting when people our age are actually doing big things and really helping people. It makes me feel hopeful (and very excited for my friend)!

3. Corn Chowder-So, we are still running through our summer of no food repeats, and I feel like i am running out of steam (I have to make all of the choices as part of our Anchor Village deal). I really liked this dish, but it has a lot of fall vegetables, and feels fall-ish, so it probably shouldn't be back until September. It isn't super good looking, but it was delicious! If you want the recipe let me know.
4. Jay Mohr on Caroline Manzo- I won't lie, I love the Real Housewives of New Jersey. They are definitely my favorite. And not just because of the hair-pulling crazy. I love the thick as thieves family members, especially Caroline who is like the super-matriarch. I think its the strange combination of the irony you see in other housewives and sort of sincerely liking/recognizing these people? This season, Bravo has had Jay Mohr writing recaps on them, and I have never loved either thing more. He talks about it with the perfect combo of love and confounded irony. I don't know why the combination works so well, but man it really does! Yay them!
5. Altar Guilding- this is not a church activity I anticipated loving, but once a month I arrange flowers for our church, and I love it! It's fun to play with the color and texture. It gives me a little moment of creativity between reading about everyone else's creativity.
