Tonight, Nick and I completely finished our first ever video game ever together after a very very long time playing- Kirby's Epic Yarn. Though I have a super nerd boyfriend, I have mostly avoided actually playing video games. Once, my friend Rudy tried to teach me to play halo, but it ended badly. I am lucky we are still friends. So, alas, I finally committed to this game, and I would (shockingly) give it 5 out of 5 stars. First, it is super super cute, it has this great textured, handmade feeling, which is a feat for an animated video game.

Secondly, you can't die. This is important when you are me. If I could die, we would quit, but I can press a magical button and have little yarn angels carry me while Nick finishes the parts that I suck at (or that really arent suited for 2 players). Also, Nick says the difficulty level is for a small child, but it is not so easy that he whipped right through it. It still took us 25 hours to get to 100%.

So, all in all, I would highly recommend Kirby to any poor gaming widows who should just let it go and try one. We had a lot of fun playing this game, and it was fun to work as a team and get mad together as we continually failed and so on. It was good for us, and I am so sad it is over! If anyone has any good suggestions of equally addictive and simple games we could play, let me know. I want to keep playing, but I don't think I am up for killing zombies or anything where I have to adopt some masculine fantasy of violence. But this is me, conceding this stuff can be a fun way to bond, if there is not much else that you could be doing.

  1. All the Lego games. First, you get double nerd points (look! it's all six star wars movies in one game!). Second, you can play as a team rather than competitors. Third, you never die ever (at least not for good). You use up all your little tokens and kill your score, but you never actually die. Start with complete Star Wars.
